Admission Criteria/Payment
In order to receive hospice care, the patient must:
- Be diagnosed with a terminal illness, including heart disease, neurological disease, lung disease, renal disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, dementia or other conditions.
- Have a medical referral from a physician.
- Have a life expectancy of six months or less.
- Have a desire for comfort-oriented care rather than curative, aggressive treatment.
Payment
Payment for hospice services may be made by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance or personal payment. Providence Hospice will review your insurance benefits and will call to confirm coverage. We will also assist with insurance forms, detailed billing information and all records necessary for insurance verification and processing. The patient and family will be informed of any and all charges prior to the start of care. Providence Hospice will not deny hospice services to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
