Volunteer Opportunities
Providence Hospice considers volunteers to be an integral part of our program. Volunteers are caring individuals, from all arenas of life, who want to serve the community by providing support to end-of-life patients and their families in a variety of ways. Volunteers assist with various needs, such as:
- Direct Patient Care
- Visiting with patients/families
- Friendship
- Emotional Support
- Companionship
- Respite
- Errands
- Transportation
- Light Housekeeping
- Cooking
Interpreters
- Facilitate Communication between hospice personnel, patients and families through visits with staff and/or phone calls
- Bereavement
- Friendship
- Emotional Support
- Periodic support with families through personal phone calls/cards
- Assistance with Bereavement events (parties, gatherings, memorial services, etc.)
Administrative Support
- Clerical assistance
- Filing
- Data entry
- Switchboard
- Mail outs
Community Services
- Health Fairs
- Speaker's Bureau
- Conferences
Providence Hospice provides training programs to prepare volunteers to meet the needs of patients and families. There is no charge for volunteer training, which is offered several times during the year. Many options are available to fit your time and needs.
